He'p Me Out, Wouldja?

I have another post planned here for later, but for right now, could you culinary geniuses head over here and give me some ideas? Pretty please? Or if you wanna just stay here, the basic sitch is that I have a big ol' ham, and need to use it. Omelettes or quiche tomorrow, so leave out the egg-based ideas, but if you have a great recipe that calls for ham, could you share? Thanks, O Wise Internets!

  1. Ham? So out of luck from this corner. But there have to be a million ham recipes on the net. What recipe sites do you use?

  2. Why can you not freeze the ham for a meal at a later time? Do you have to use it all at one time?

  3. I got it! Add the ham cut into cubes to potato soup. Here's my recipe:

    1/4 C minced onion (I use green onions)
    2T butter
    2T flour
    1-1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp celery salt
    dash of ground pepper
    1 qt (4 C) milk
    3 C cubed raw potatoes
    2 stalks chopped celery
    some chopped parsley (dried or fresh)
    6 strips of crisply cooked bacon

    Saute onion in butter until transparent; blend in flour & seasonings. Gradually add milk and cook at medium heat, stirring well until slightly thickened. Cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add potatoes, bacon and HAM. Cook at a slow simmer until spuds poke easy, then turn to warm.
