Alex is talking about a big project in the basement (our dog-grooming/workout room), and I'm feeling guilty due to my, uh, general state of uselessness. I ask him, "What can I do to help?" To which he stammers a bit, then responds, in a voice normally reserved for small children and skittish horses,

"Well, we can carry down a little chair for you, and you can sit there and tell me how handsome I am every few minutes while I work."

  1. Gee, why didn't you think of that?! Plus, men who build stuff are hot, so it wouldn't be hard for you to say that, right?

    Take care of yourself, and I'll catch up with you when I get back. {{Hugs}}

  2. Aww. I feel like that sometimes, too. Especially lately.

    Hope you feel better.

  3. I heart Alex. The planets must have been aligned in some very special way for two such wickedly funny people to end up together.

    Oh...I have a picture for you.

  4. Too cute! And so guy-like.

  5. Plus, you could take and ice chest with you and give him drinks!

  6. I really feel as though I could do a much better job packing if someone were here to tell me that I look thin and pretty!

  7. I'm laughing out loud, "tell me how handsome I am every few minutes" your husband is a gem!

    Next trip, you guys must make to the nation's capital - I feel like we should make Alex a big appreciation Southeast Asian Indian dinner!

  8. Watching and providing compliments are important and necessary jobs that when done properly and often create an atmosphere wherein even more work is done in a timely fashion. Trust me, I know stuff

    off to watch dear husband spray for those spider web creating bugs that have invaded our yard and that are killing my climatis.

  9. That sounds like a lot of work... How about you blink at him, real pretty like?

    Hope you feel better...
