A Guest-Post From Alex

Hello all! My better half has really been under the weather lately. I really do admire you ladies with all you have to put up with, and Belinda usually puts up with all her pains with a smile. But, this time she needs a break and may not be on here for a while. So, tonight folks you get me.

On other fronts, we promised Isabella that if she was really good at the wedding at the end of this month, where she is to be a flower girl, that she would get a Build-A-Bear. So, we went to the Build-A-Bear web site tonight where she was delighted to see that there was a poodle doll there. Have any of you been to that web site or one of those stores?! She was going wild over everything. There were outfits, shoes, sounds the poodle could make, and many, many other accessories. What a racket. Anyway, unbeknownst to her, we were actually ordering the poodle as we went along. (Sneaky, aren't we?)

Then it came time to officially register the poodle with the Build-A-Bear site to be able to find it if lost and also give it a name. Now, when she was asked the poodle's name, we suggested Princess, and the like, but she was in one of her silly moods and started rattling off nonsensical words. But, the name that kept coming out over and over again sounded a lot like Coochie Mylanta. Now, that's not a very good name for a little girl's doll, but we thought it would be a great name for a drag queen. A really ugly drag queen. Can't you just hear it? "And next on the stage, Coochie Mylanta!"

The doll ended up being named Princess Poodle, but in our hearts, she will forever remain...Coochie Mylanta.

  1. A drag queen would be good... but I am picturing a really old stripper for "Coochie Mylanta"!

All my best to Belinda. :-)

  2. Oh, Lord! You had us rolling up here.
The Pepto Poodle Princess - Coochie Mylanta. I'm still chuckling.

Belinda, I hope you feel better soon.

  4. Alex welcome! We hear so much about you (all good naturally) and it is nice to finally speak to you (in a relative way).

I do hope Belinda gets better, I know she is tired of the sympathy but I feel so bad.

Please please please put up pic's of Bella at the wedding, I just know she is going to look beautiful (I can't wait to hear about how her flower girl duties went!).

  5. I'm w/ Dave...Totally an old stripper name....she sometimes pairs up w/ VaJayJay Geritol.

I'm sorry Belinda's still under the weather...give her a squeeze from all us blog folk.

Make sure Bella doesn't fall asleep at the wedding. Both times I was a flower girl at that age, I curled up on the steps of the stage and took a nap. Weddings have always bored me, I guess.

  6. Well, at least it's not American Girl dolls. Those things scare me.

    Get better, B.

  8. I had a stuffed rabbit named Roquefort Coconuthead so I think Coochie Mylanta has a certain lilt to it.

  9. Hi Alex! Really sorry Belinda is still feeling so rotten.

When my granddaughter who was 3 at the time was the flower girl for my youngest son's wedding, we had a designated *Emily watcher*. She took Emily out of the sanctuary as soon as she started getting restless (which was pretty much as soon as she walked down the aisle). That way the wedding was disrupted by the squirms and distractions of the flower girl. It worked out well for us and I know the bride surely appreciated it.

Glad you'll be posting here for awhile.

  13. We bought bears for my (twin) boys for a kindergarden graduation gift. Corny, but we don't give them something that expensive for no reason. Now, if they want an outfit or accessory, they have to save up half the money. (That also works for video games.) When they started first grade, we setup an allowance program. We are working on our llist of "chores" for summer time allowance earning!

Give both your girls a huge hug. We sure do miss Belinda when she's busy elsewhere.

  14. Yer a good man, Alex. I am not a blogger, but a lurking poodle type person. I hope Belinda is on the mend very soon. I check in on her site most days and miss her wisdom.

  16. Oh, do I know Build-A-Bear! Grandma also does, and learned the hard way to NEVER say "you can have anything you want" while at that store with my girls! I did warn her, but she refused to listen. We have quite the collection, including 2 poodles, 3 beagles, a yellow lab, a pony, and a few bears.

Give Belinda & Isabella hugs from us
    Kathleen

  18. Hope things get better for Belinda soon. She is so wacky at times. I love reading all the interesting things going on. Coochie Mylanta is funny, but the other name fits a girl's toy.

  25. They actually have one of those stores here in the Mall of America. My surprise when I saw Build-a-Bear didn't only have bears.

    Shame on me. :)

And to everyone hoping Belinda feels better soon... Why? Didn't enjoy the guest poster? That's cold as ice.

    :)

  26. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, have Coochie Mylanta printed on the poodle's foot somewhere. By the time Bella can read it, it may be all worn off. Please?

Alex, you did a lovely job of filling in for your lovely wife on her lovely blog. I'm feeling all lovey-dovey and sentimental and wish to send Belinda a massage, a hair-braiding session, and some kisses.
