No Deal.

Well, after being on the market for over a year, apparently another offer came in on the house right after our offer, and it was the one that was accepted. So unless something falls through with those buyers, we are not new koi-pond--or home--owners. As I've said before, I don't believe in coincidences, so I have to believe there's something that's a better fit for whatever reason down the line. And now I won't have to vomit from the stress of an impending move for a while.

  1. You know you're right. I always tell people who are househunting the story of how we found our house. We had basically given up and were going to the 'will do, but we hate it' place, we had even given a deposit on it, and the same thing that happened to you happened to us. They took another offer seconds after our offer. I was literally facing a hotel as we had NO place to move to and we had seen every damn house, condo, and townhouse in our city and nothing was right. Then, just as we were about to leave the RE office, the agent got a call from our former owners telling them that they had lowered the price to "almost" our price range, and we went to look at it. As we drove up the driveway I looked at the kids, they looked at me, and we said "we want it". We didn't even have to look inside, we knew it was JUST what we were looking for.

OK, it's smaller than I had hoped, and we have no working fireplace, but otherwise it is PERFECT and it took us about 6 months of constant househunting to find.

You'll find your perfect home too, and if you want a KOI pond, you can always put one in.

  2. Yep, there is a reason that happened, and you may not know what it is now - but you will later, and you'll be glad that things worked out the way that they did.

Like Margalit said, you can always add a koi pond :-)

  3. Everything happens for a reason, indeed...there's another Koi Pond out there for you somewhere. Good for you for taking the leap in your "plumb crazy" post...WOW! Another will come along.

  5. When we made an offer on our house, our realtor added a statement that if any other offers came in we would match them plus another $200.00. There were FOUR offers made on the house on the same day, but ours was accepted.

Maybe you could do something similar?
