What We Have Here...

...is a failure to communicate.

"I need you to stick around today, I'm having some kind of weird abandonment anxiety or something."

"OK." (kiss on cheek) We'll talk about it when I get back."

  1. Somehow I'm thinking you probably weren't thinking this was funny at the time, but I can't help but giggle. Sorry - just so perfectly "male."

  2. I have to ask-Alex asked you to stick around or you asked him? If I had to guess I would say it was you asking him. If so, are you okay?

Oh.My.God.No.WAY! Do you watch "Arrested Development"? The Verification Word is boblaw! I know, the character is actually Bob Loblaw, but it's close enough!

  3. Erin--Yup. And I did survive. I tend to get clingy on the weekends, though it's getting better as the Zoloft gets out of my system. He was only going to be gone for 5-10 minutes, getting us some lunch!

He wasn't *really* ignoring me, I don't think, but just taking into account my current neurosis and brushing me off for the moment. For a similar exchange, see this.

And now that I think of it, it's not the first time I've used the"Cool Hand Luke" comparison, either.

Actually, the whole month of August in the archives is full of revelations of Alex--the good, the bad, and the absurd.

Does that clear it up any, Laurie? Basically, I'm a little nuts, and he's a smart-alec with selective hearing. Well, and he's a little nuts, too.

  4. Nah, it was neurotic me. See explanation above...sometimes I just feel better when he's around.

    BOBLOBLAW!!!

I sure hope more people are watching that show now. Have you seen "Extras" on HBO yet? Same lead actor from the BBC's original "The Office". Hilarious. Alex discovered it for us.

  7. The Sunday night HBO combo of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Extras" is one of our few must-see-TV nights. Both are hilarious!
