OPERATION K.A.R.E. ACTIVATED IN ARKANSAS!

Gov. Mike Huckabee announces a plan to assist hurricane evacuees staying in Arkansas.
Operation KARE (Katrina Assistance and Relief Effort) is a coordinated effort involving all state agencies in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Huckabee said there will be facilities open this weekend in all 75 counties so evacuees from the hurricane can register for assistance.

Huckabee urged Arkansans to continue to donate money to the Red Cross.

"We sit and watch the television coverage in horror as New Orleans fills with water," he said. "We wonder what we can do. I can assure you that state government is doing everything it can to help our neighbors to the south. We've mobilized all of our resources.
The best thing individual Arkansans can do is call 1-800-HELP-NOW or go to www.redcross.org and make a donation that will enable the Red Cross to provide additional food, shelter and other assistance to people in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. Gov. Blanco of Louisiana also has asked that we all participate today in a day of prayer."
